After installation of my pool no-one seems to want to help with the issues I have been having - I attached me last email that was sent a few days ago - I haven't heard back from anyone yet again.

Hi Jessica,

I did not realize that the final inspection wasn’t complete? I do remember the inspector coming out at the end of the year last year and meeting with my electrician for his final? But I actually thought there was an inspection completed after that?

In addition to that I actually have a few issues on the pool and the work itself. When the pool coping was done last year the guys that installed the coping got caught in a torrential downpour. Which caused all of the pointing to flake off and stain. They did recognize there was an issue and came back to grind everything out and re-point. The only problem was that it was without any notice and I had other workers there doing landscaping and other projects so they could not work then. They never returned after that. I’ve since called service a few times with no response. Angelo from your company who opens the pool for us also made note of it this year when he came to do our salt Indoctrination but I still haven’t heard from anyone.

Angelo realized at the time of our salt indoctrination that the flow sensor was bad so he scheduled a warrantee service and made note of the coping. He also realized and noted that we never received our push-in Aussie eyeballs for the Jacuzzi jets part of the pool. He said they will be brought out and installed when they return to replace the sensor. When they came out to do the salt water sensor repair the guy said he was never given the eyeballs? I finally wound up having to go up there and just buy them from the store in Westchester last week because no-one could find them. I have a copy of angelos report stating the coping and eyeballs need to be taken care of. Since then I’ve now noticed that the blower is not working on the that part of the pool? I do understand things go wrong and repairs are needed but once they are noted I think they should be taken care of as soon as possible. Every time I called on the coping problem and the eyeballs I was told that its a “different department” and they couldn’t help me? The pool itself isn’t even 1 year old yet and these issues along with the blower not working now just seem like a little too much. I’m really hoping someone can take care of these issues promptly and without me having to keep calling for service. The pool itself is really great I’m just disappointed at the lack of response on these issues.

Thanks,

Update by user Oct 12, 2018

Up to this point, I didn't receive any contact from Anthony and Sylvan regarding the issue. I cc'd their manager Neil Coyne in all the emails, he will respond with a vague promise once and I talked to him at the begging of the project once and nothing was done.

We are still waiting for the sticker after the electrical project and they seem to not even care about following the township guidelines. The sticker shows that their electrical work is by the guideline and it passed the inspection and we don't have that as of today 10/12/2018. The lack of communication and the unprofessionalism is beyond anyone's expectations.

Major consequences should follow their action, this company shouldn't be in business and I am looking at a legal action as we speak. What they did can't and will not go without penalty.

Original review posted by user Sep 12, 2018

I met with the salesperson (Jarrad) and everything was good at the beginning, he promised me that our pool will be done by the end of July. Then we had a meeting with Jarrad and the project manager (Cody) who stated that the first week of August will be the maximum yo have the pool up and running and ready to be used.

Once we signed the contract everything went down *** The scheduler (James Pettit) was the rudest, unprofessional and nastiest person I have ever dealt with. Tara another scheduler who lack communication. They scheduled us on rainy days because I complained about the delay. I have emails, videos, and pictures.

I kept emailing them that you cannot choose the only rainy days in the week, schedule me and then blame it on the weather. I texted all of them several times and Cody will respond a day or two after if he did respond. The construction crew they sent to our house left their trash, cans and the food paper plates etc on our lawn. They left a huge mess around the pool, they messed up the driveway and they said their policy stated they are not responsible for any damage they create.

They dug up the pool and used most of the dirt they dug up but left a huge amount just laying there by the pool and they said it is our responsibility to level it ourselves. The construction fence they put was always down, the didn't care about making it secure enough to keep it in place, we had to fix it ourselves several times. I contacted their supervisor to complain and didn't get a response from him until almost the end of the project. After several attempts to get this pool done, we finally had it completed at the end of August over a month behind the schedule, they left the orange construction fence, the metal they used to hold it up with and the other fence they used until I called and asked them to come and take that.

The job was not as they told us and not as the picture, the plasterwork was sloppy and I took pictures, contacted them and still waiting for it to be taking care of. The equipment they showed us on their catalog was nothing in real life like described. They basically sell you an ideal pool, charge you a ton of money and don't deliver. I am extremely unsatisfied and if the above issues are not taking care of, I will have to take other measures.

Avoid this company by any mean. Even the other contractors who came to our house stated they never saw a messy, sloppy job in their career time and that we got ripped off.

Don’t be deceived by their sales pitch: “been in business over 70 years.. lifetime warranty…other company’s won’t be around in 10 years… nationwide coverage..we have the best customer satisfaction in the business..we have the best people working for us..Google my name to see all of my positive reviews..We have the best project managers in the country” etc.

Solely based on my personal experience, here is what to expect when you sign a contract with Anthony & Sylvan pools: You will have to pay for the pool in full weeks before the pool is even completed. You will have to do major cleanup of your house, yard, deck, etc after they are “done” since they only construct the pool. Your house will NOT be in the same condition after the completion of the pool as it was before they arrived to your property. They will tell you in the beginning that “you don’t have to deal with any of the subcontractors, we take care of every detail for you, but then when there is a problem (there was an issue with the deck paver subcontractor), I was told that Anthony and Sylvan won’t require a sub to make any repairs, I must contact the sub myself and work out the errors with him directly.

In addition to this, the design consultant (Tim Clarke) made an error with the placement of the (2) LED lights and I now have over 40% of my pool that is dark/no light at night and the wall of the sundeck has too much light on it because he placed/deigned the light too close to the wall (see attached pictures for yourself). I upgraded(additional $) to (2) LED lights to insure I would get the look I ultimately wanted and Tim stated “they w ill see your pool from outer space” yet almost half my pool has no lighting at night due to his design error. Since the beginning Tim stated he would be alongside us throughout the build process yet he has been nowhere to be found after a few weeks of signing the contract and receiving my deposit. He is a true car salesman that tells you what you want to hear.

Kevin (Anthony and Sylvan GM for their Charlotte branch) isn’t willing to help out in any way due to the design error of their design consultant/salesman and he went as far as to say “You and your wife designed the pool with the help of the design consultant. The lighting issue was not an error on our part”. So basically we as the consumer need to be design professionals in order to get the pool of our dreams because their company will take no liability for any errors in the design. All in all, I very much regret every doing business with Anthony and Sylvan Pools and I feel that I was totally taken advantage of.

This bothers me especially since they had no issues taking my $54k of very hard earned money and quickly moved onto the next customer. I realize that no pool company is perfect and all of them will make mistakes, but it is all in how you correct the mistakes.

Per Anthony and Sylvan, they made no mistakes in the design and construction of my pool, it is all on me the consumer. I would not suggest doing business with Anthony and Sylvan.

Now that Anthony & Sylvan has their money, they will not address cracking and light issues with pool covered under warranty. The original request was made via email on April 26, 2018.

Since then, I've made more than a dozen other phone calls as well as four follow-up emails up the management chain to Northern Virginia's general manager, Neil Coyne—with not a single response. Finally, I had to take a lunch hour to go to the Chantilly, VA store to get a store manager to call a direct number and get on the warranty department's schedule for an inspection to correct issues.

I actually recorded the conversation between the manager and Matthew Saracini...who has been less than helpful. Once I was finally on the warranty department's schedule, I took a day off work last Friday (May 25, 2018) -- more than a month after starting down this road to correct the cracked concrete pad -- AND THEY DIDN'T SHOW!!!!!

We really aren't ones to complain or to take issue with minor things, but there are some things that have disappointed us with our experience with Anthony Sylvan. Again, we love our pool and think it turned out great, but since you are asking, Here are the things we felt could have been done better

1. My assumption, and again, this is my opinion...when building a custom pool, I fugured drainage would have been taken into consideration and planned for ahead of time. However we had to come up with 800 dollars out of pocket 2 days before a Disney trip to pay for our our patio forms to be redone to add drainage that should have been something anticipated or thought of during construction and planning, not an afterthought.

2. We were given a start up email which required us to buy chemicals for our pool which we didnt need causing unnecessary expense.

3. Majority of the manuals for equipment are missing, so we had to go online to get the manuals ourselves to know how to service our equipment and change our pool light colors.

4. The timer on our filter pump is already broken after 3 weeks of use. We have to manually turn off the pump at night. Though we are dealing with getting it fixed, im just surprised, it has broken so soon.

5. One of the things that i asked for specifically to be taken into consideration in the design of our pool was the jet nozzle placements and contour shape of the pool so surface doesnt get areas where leaves and stuff get stuck. We have played around with the nozzles, and though leaves make it to the bucket skimmer, we have a lot that stay in the middle and seem to go around and around pool and miss the skimmer all together.

5. The gutters were not strapped back or connected to the drain system after multiple attempts to get project completed. We waited for a month until we had to go out and purchase materials and finish it ourselves.

6. During the cool coat spraying, it splashed on the stone of my house and now we have grey cool coat splatter on our light house stone. And chipped/scratched the stucco

7. Our name was similar to another clients so we were not getting communications.

8. The entry to our property had to go through our neighbors property. We had a hard time getting their permission due to concerns about damage to their yard. Jason promised us that they would level it and fill with dirt. Jeff ran the bulldozer over it to flatten it out, but no dirt was added and the attitude was that its their problem now, not yours.

9. The dirt brought in to grade after construction did not cover any of the pipes for drainage so we had to bring in extra dirt and do the work ourselves.

So those were our issues that we thought could have been improved.

Our pool is a year old and we had 2 tiles fall off in June. Called customer service and was told the soonest any one could look at the pool was July 17th .

Hugh Kilpatrick arrived on the 17th and said the pool had more problems then the tiles and 10' of copping would need removed and replaced . I explained that we would like this work completed asap. August 15th and still not a single call from Anthony & Sylvan to schedule the repairs .

I have called Hugh 2 times with no return call. It saddens me to think that I recommended this company to a friend who used them to install there pool and they have had problems also.

No need to explain what happened. Your company has a lot to learn in the customer service part of your company.

**UPDATE** Although Anthony and Sylvan replied to my online reviews with "Thank you for making us aware of your concerns, we will be in contact with you soon". Of course the "Customer service Manager" from their corporate office contacted me but two months later, they still want me to pay for their design error OR take a $1,000 refund and be on my merry way. I refused to take the refund due to principal and I now am the proud owner of a pool that looks horrible at night due to improperly designed lighting placement.

I highly suggest not doing business with Anthony and Sylvan Pools. Don't let their sales pitches deceive you.

Our renovation has been incomplete for a month now. The sloppy plaster crew stained our new pavers around, stained new coping, left gap open between coping & pavers, broke our pool light and refuse to repair that, killed turf when instructed to discharge chemicals 15' away in field, refuse to commit to if & when they will stand up to the contract.
